Music At FUMC

At Flushing United Methodist Church we believe that our music ministry is a way to connect people to God by using the gifts and talents that have been given to us, not for our own glory, but for the praise of God, and the building of God’s kingdom.

It may be through an instrument or the voice, small group or large. We are always looking to grow in spiritual faith, service, musical ability, and number of servants. We sing together, laugh together, support each other, pray together, and fellowship together. Regardless of our level of ability, we work for the glory and praise of God.

The Centrum Choir and Chapel Handbells meet from September through May.

There are many opportunities to participate. Come join us!

The Centrum Choir is open to all from Junior High to adult who love to sing. The ability to read music is not a necessity. Whether you sing in the shower, with the radio, at karaoke night, on the stage, in the concert hall…wherever!…all are welcome! They rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the choir room and sing for the 8:45 a.m. Traditional Worship service on Sundays during the school year.

The Praise Chorus is open to ages Senior High to adult. We rehearse on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday or the month at 7:30 p.m. We sing at the traditional service on the last Sunday of the month and participate in special events. No experience is necessary. We offer fun and challenging opportunities to sing a wide variety of music as well as spend quality time among a friendly and interesting group of people.

The Chapel Handbell Ensemble is a five octave handbell ensemble that is open to Junior High School to adults who have ringing experience or who would like to learn to ring. Music reading is not necessary–we will teach you! If you feel the music in you, come give us a try! We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:30 in “The Choir/Handbell Room”–and ring for the 8:45 Traditional  worship services about once per month.

The Contemporary Praise Bandis made up of musicians and vocalists who lead the music for the Contemporary Worship service. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings before the service. There is always room for more musicians who want to share their gifts in worship. If you are interested in finding our more, please contact Christie Dover.
