Our purpose statement: Security Youth Group exists to reach out to the lost kids in our community by following The Seven Checkpoints (Authentic Faith, God’s Authority, Everybody Matters, Spiritual Discipline, Moral Boundaries, God-centered Friendships, Wise Choices), by developing leaders who characterize the 4 E’s (Envision, Enable, Empower, Energize) and by having a purpose driven youth group that has a healthy balance in all 5 areas of ministry (Evangelism, Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry, Worship).
Ministry Schedule: Sunday: Youth Group @ 6:30 for both Jr &; Sr. high
Wednesday: After School Program 2:30-4:30 (we play floor hockey where we provide the youth the hockey equipment to use)
Drama Practice 5:30-6:30
Band Practice 6:30-7:45
We meet in the Undercroft which is located in the basement of the church. To find out the times and schedule of all youth events consult the youth calendar hanging on the youth bulletin board inside of fellowship hall.
Youth Drama & Soul'd Out Praise Band
One of my favorite things to do is to watch our drama team perform. One of the reasons I enjoy it so much is because I see how it has transformed some of our youth. There have been some youth who were extremely shy when they first joined. They have worked their way out of their shell through drama and have become more outgoing and great actors and actresses. The drama team is led by my wife Diane. The drama team has performed skits for Christmas time, sermon series, and for the youth group. It is our goal to put on murder mystery dinners and have the team perform outside of the church as well. One of the great things about a youth band is that we are not perfect. We encourage all of the teens who want to learn to play in the youth band or sing, to let us know. We have worked with other youth who were just learning how to play guitar and got them started and they are now playing with the band. Worship is a powerful ministry. When the youth led other youth in worshipping God it is the youth taking part in ministry. Besides, the youth band playing for just the youth group, the youth band also plays occasionally for regular church services as well as invitations to play at places like Myers Lake, parties, etc...
